Original 19th century Victorian police truncheon. Stamped on the handle is “Field (the maker) 233 Holborn (the address). Victorian police truncheons were commonly hand painted in colours red, gold, blue to signified the monarch’s authority and also helped identify each police officer and constabulary and the degree of different painted designs is vast.
