Original Primitive 'Dasher' Butter Churn - VIN1157Q
Back to Interiors > Everything ElseDescription
Original primitive “dasher” butter churn, used in farmhouses extensively to create butter from cream which had been skimmed from the milk of cows. This is complete with the dasher (the plunger) which was thrust up and down churning the cream which eventually forms globules of butter. These were later replaced by the barrel churn which required less physical effort and were more efficient.
