A fabulous needlework sampler dated 1850 by S A Maddock , found folded away in the family drawer. Still has vibrant colours of butterflies, birds, flowers, foliage together with a powerful verse, that reads:-
“If in the spring of youthful bloom
I should be called to die
O guard my body to the tomb
And raise my soul on high”
The second verse reads
“Each future scene to thee I leave
Sufficient tis to know
Thou canst from every danger save
And every good bestow”
